Common questions
Which places appear on the Japan map?
The map brings together every place from the guides: Tokyo, Kyoto, Osaka, Nara, Hakone, Hiroshima, Hokkaido and Okinawa, alongside temples, markets, gardens and onsen towns. Each pin is grouped by category and linked to its full guide.
Can I save the map to use on my phone during the trip?
Every pin opens with a direct Google Maps link, so you can start navigation to any place straight from your phone. The map itself works in the mobile browser with no app needed.
How do I filter the map by type of place?
Above the map there are filter buttons by category: cities, temples, nature, food and historic sites. Tap a category to show only the relevant pins, handy for planning a focused day.
Is the map useful for planning a rail route across Japan?
Definitely. Seeing the cities on one map helps you understand distances and plan bullet-train hops, for example Tokyo, Kyoto and Osaka along one line. Alongside the map it is worth reading the JR Pass guide and our ready-made itineraries.
