Hi, I'm Theo. A few years ago my partner Mia and I packed two backpacks, left home, and never really stopped. We're full-time travellers: we pick a place, live in it long enough to know it properly, then build the guide we wish we'd had on day one. Japan Vibe is our Japan edition, and it is one we keep coming back to, season after season.
We write for everyone
We travel a little differently every year, so we write for every kind of trip. Whether you're a family riding the shinkansen with kids, a couple chasing cherry blossom, a group of friends bar-hopping through Golden Gai, or a solo traveller on your first big adventure, you'll find picks here that actually fit. We only recommend places we've been to and things we'd send our own friends to.

Detailed guides to Japan: the regions and cities, from Tokyo and Kyoto to Osaka, Hokkaido and Okinawa, temples and shrines, the food and the markets, nightlife and bars, nature, mountains and onsen, getting around and the JR Pass, ready-made itineraries by number of days, and the practical stuff too, money, etiquette and when to go. Every guide carries current tips and honest answers to the questions people really ask.
How we work
We keep the guides updated and show the last update date on every one. When something changes, an opening time, a new line, a place that closed, we fix it. Spotted a mistake? We'd love to hear about it.
